No G 21 3 series wagon for USA

Kinja'd!!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I have been reading good things about the n ew & mproved G20 and was looking forward to it. I’ll be honest though, can never afford one new so no point lamenting any more. Still, was hoping to pick up a CPO under $30K sometime in the future.

I guess for me and others wanting one, a used 2019(last year in US) 330i or 328D is the final chance to get a newish 3 series wagon.

At least there’s the Volvo V60.

They’d rather sell us a godforsaken X4, apparently.

AKA, “We looked at the sales  numbers and sell exponentially more X4s”, unfortunately.

IF BMW was smart, they would throw high springs, bigger tires, and a little removable body cladding on there and call it the 3 Series XUV then up-sell enthusiasts to take it off and lower it back down. USA solved.

At least we'll still get a 5-door version of a 4-door version of a 2-door version of a 4-door car.

you’re saying they’re “stupid” because they won’t make a bunch of unsellable shit to sit on dealer lots forever? Car companies exist to make vehicles people buy new.  They don’t exist to lose their shirts making lot poison for internet people to argue about but not buy because they can’t afford a new car.

I am available and willing. My current company just wrote be a $65k/yr IOU instead of a raise, so my body is ready.

With new wagons from Buick, Jaguar, Volvo, Audi and Mercedes I highly doubt BMW will leave the segment alone. Their unending need to ploiferate their lineup to further and further heights dictates that they leave no soil unturned!

If the States are anything like Oz (where X line vehicles account for 60% of sales and growing) then colour me unsurprised. Throw in tariffy like things on top and I wonder why you are disappointed in BMW.

We aren’t getting the 3 series wagon either. But we’ll continue seeing the 5 series wagon...and it’s not like we aren’t spoilt for wagon choice anyway...

No big loss... the 3-series wagon has been dead to me since the E91 anyways, since that was the last generation where you could get both a manual and a straight-6 engine. Now it’s all automatic 4-bangers, no thanks. Those N20 engines are straight garbage.

Sadness. I’ve fallen in love with my E46 Touring with the manual. I am the kind of person who buys new stuff, I’ve already told my wife when the Outback lease is over I’m buying a new BMW wagon. Guess not. ...sigh...

The mindset of waiting for one used is why these cars don’t come here anymore. They’ll never make these for the used market, if you want one go get an F31 for under $30k. Hell, there’s an ‘09 LCI E91 M sport auto in my area for $18k but I’ve got bigger plans.

If so many people didn’t wait until the secondhand market, I wouldn’t have to special order a V60 from the dealer just to get what I want, but that is what I am going to have to do. I may just hold on to it forever in that case.

Gee, wish I was rich enough to plop down $50+k on a new car. Hell I can’t even afford the lease payments on that that. Maybe you can, most people cannot.

Your statement of people’s mindset of waiting for the used car assumes people have the money to do so but simply waits for a used car regardless. I can only buy the car which I can afford. And if a used 3 series wagon is not available at that price, tough shit. It would be nice to have that option, but I understand if the market for new ones doesn’t exist in the first place. I didnt curse out BMW for stopping the wagon becuase it ruins my plans 5 years from now. Used G20 sedans will come into that marketplace anyway.

That’s basically what I said in the post. And if I can’t talk about that on a forum like this where else would I?

You don’t need to spend $50k. A decently optioned V60 momentum is more powerful, looks better, and can be $45-46k before any incentives. A lease with a little down would be affordable for a lot of people there.

I assume it will since it sells better than the actual coupe.

I was referring to the existence of the 6 GT . Don't think we'll get a 3 GT, as we have a 4 GT that seems to be doing fine.

This makes me sad, too. I’d love to keep buying used ones until I could actually afford a new one. But that’s not how this works, I guess.

Again, missing the point. What difference does 45 K vs. 50K make to someone whose max is under $30K?

Even a $30K loan is $541 a month for 5 years at current interest rates for excellent credit.

Kinja'd!!!

And I always put at least 10% down so in reality my loan is around $25K. Assuming a $5k down...

Kinja'd!!!

That’s a lot of money for 5 years At least you own the car at the end of it. And if you take a lease with a down payment for about the same amount ($450 to $550) it has to be an absolute stripper model worth $47,395, see. Not even heated seats. Sure you can say you have a 3 series wagon for 3 years but not even basic features you’d find on economy cars these days.

Kinja'd!!!

Do you expect me to blindly go by just monthly payment and say “I can either spend $500 a month on a used car or a new lease , I guess they’re both exactly the same because $500 is $500 ” without considering all the other factors in leasing vs buying?

The V60 is the only option going forward. Good thing it seems to be an excellent vehicle.

Hopefully you can find a lightly used 2019 330i for at least 4 years after.
